Garden Cushion Size and Care Guide

05 September 2026

Outdoor furniture varies widely, even when two sets look similar. Measure the furniture and compare every listed dimension before ordering replacement garden cushions.

Measure the seating area

Record the usable length and width inside arms or frame edges. Measure the required depth without obstructing tables, lids or folding parts. For a back cushion, measure the supported height as well as the width.

Check every piece in a set

Rattan and modular furniture may use several different seat, corner and back shapes. Make a labelled list and count the quantity of each piece. Do not rely only on the total number of cushions.

Understand water-resistant wording

Water-resistant fabric can help with light moisture and everyday outdoor use, but it is not the same as waterproof construction. Seams, zips and filling can admit moisture. Follow the individual product instructions and do not leave cushions exposed to prolonged rain.

Storage and cleaning

  • Store cushions dry in a ventilated area when not in use.
  • Brush away loose dirt before it becomes embedded.
  • Follow the cover's care label; do not assume every removable cover is machine washable.
  • Allow covers and foam to dry fully before storage.
  • Inspect seams and zips regularly.

Custom sizes

For a non-standard bench or seating layout, provide exact dimensions and say whether you need foam only, covers only or complete cushions. Irregular shapes may require a drawing or template.
